SJH Elmer Hospital —
Guided by a mission of service
As a member of the region’s largest nonprofit health system, SJH Elmer Hospital is guided by a mission that focuses on providing quality care to the communities it serves. Today, more than a half century after its opening, Elmer Hospital remains committed to introducing the latest technology and expanding its facilities to meet the needs of Salem and Gloucester County families.
Growing to meet community needs
In recent years, South Jersey Healthcare’s Elmer Hospital has undergone a remarkable transformation. Since January of 2000, we have opened a new state-of-the-art intensive care unit; a modern surgical services department; a new child/adolescent intensive outpatient mental health unit; and a new MaternityCare Center. Our lobby and registration area have also been completely redesigned to ensure your comfort, convenience and privacy.
Dedicated to exceeding your expectations
By focusing on clinical quality and customer service, we have earned the distinction of being a national leader in patient satisfaction. We are proud that our patients have consistently ranked our emergency services and ambulatory care among the top in the nation for patient satisfaction. Our inpatients also give us good marks, consistently placing us in the top 10 to 20 percent in the nation for patient satisfaction.
Intensive Care
Private state-of-the-art intensive care rooms enhance privacy, yet allow for direct visual contact between nurses and patients.
Surgical Services
Offering convenient same-day procedures and complex inpatient procedures, including neurosurgery and joint replacement.
-
Four modern, spacious operating suites, including one specially designed for orthopedics
-
An ambulatory surgery staff that has repeatedly ranked in the top five percent in the nation for patient satisfaction.
Who is South Jersey Healthcare?
South Jersey Healthcare is a charitable nonprofit health care organization in which hospitals, doctors and other health care providers work together to provide quality care. SJH has been serving the citizens of Southern New Jersey for 15 years, but traces its roots to 1898 when the original Bridgeton Hospital opened its doors.
SJH Elmer Hospital is staffed by many of the area’s most respected physicians and nurses.
SJH has always been an organization motivated by its mission. This mission, in general terms, has always been to provide the people in the communities served by SJH with the highest quality health care. An important component of the mission has also been to provide all people with access to health services, regardless of ability to pay. Decisions to grow, diversify, provide a continuum of care for patients, focus regionally and integrate more closely as a system—all are made to keep faith with our mission of excellent public service.
Talented and Respected Physicians and Nurses
Our physicians, nurses and ancillary staff work together to provide quality care that emphasizes clinical excellence and compassion.
