Community Service Rotation

UMDNJ-SOM Community Service Pre-doctoral Training
Third year medical students from UMDNJ-SOM (University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey - School of Osteopathic Medicine) are placed in community-based agencies and organization providing services. They learn about underserved and culturally populations, diverse including barriers to accessing care. The students observe and participate in the care provided by each agency; and maintain a daily journal documenting their thoughts, feelings and experiences throughout their rotation. Current GardenAHEC Community Host Sites include: C.A.T.A., County of Cumberland Department of Health, Cumberland County Adult Medical Day Care Program,FCI Fairton, Gloucester County Department of Health, Martin Luther King Outreach & Development, Inc., Millville Center - Genesis Eldercare, Millville Housing Authority, NJ Veteran's Memorial Home at Vineland, Robin's Nest,Rural Opportunities, Inc., Salem County Health Department,Seabrook House, South Jersey AIDS Alliance, South Jersey Community Services/FamCare, Inc., South Jersey Community Services/HospiceCare, South Jersey Healthcare Regional Cancer Center, St. John of God Community Services, Tri-County Community Action Agency - Head Start, Vineland Developmental Center.
