For Community
SJH has initiated a variety of community benefit programs and developed several partnerships with community organizations that are helping to improve the health and well being of thousands of local residents. STEPS (Success Through Exercise, Physical Fitness and Sharing Information) is a community-based child obesity program developed through a partnership with the Cumberland Cape Atlantic YMCA. The 12-week program engages children in many interactive exercise activities and provides parents with important information about making lifestyle changes that address their children's obesity and overall health. IMPACTis a collaboration with the Vineland Board of Education that provides health and social services, childcare for infants and toddlers, preschool programs and literacy programs. IMPACT's Teen Parenting Program offers morning and after-school classes covering life skills, parenting, and pregnancy prevention to parenting students and their babies.

Another program that assists mothers and children in our community, Open Arms, is a partnership between Community Health Care Inc. and SJH. It aims to improve the health of women and their babies in Cumberland County by providing incentives for women to receive early and consistent prenatal care.

SJH also offers a wealth of programs designed to educate the community about healthy living. Lectures and courses are regularly available on such topics as managing diabetes, cardiovascular health, and CPR training. The health system provides educational opportunities to students who are interested in pursuing health care careers through our Nursing Camp, Medical Explorers Program and job shadowing events. The health system also offers dozens of support groups that help people manage a variety of health issues from cancer to addiction.

It is also important that we reach out to those in our community who don't regularly come through the doors of our hospitals. That's why we participate in a variety of health fairs and community events to offer valuable health information to our neighbors. SJH also maintains a Speakers Bureau, which provides community groups and organizations with health care experts who present information on dozens of important health topics ranging from fitness and nutrition to cardiac catheterization.

Supporting the charitable organizations in our community is also an important part of our community benefit program. Our employees have repeatedly shown their generosity by supporting dozens of important causes that make a difference in the lives of our neighbors. The fundraising campaigns and events which have been spearheaded by our staff have provided thousands of dollars to organizations like the American Heart Association, the March of Dimes and Alex's Lemonade Stand. Our staff has also given generously during our employee campaign for the United Way of Greater Cumberland County, which supports numerous charitable organizations in and around the county.

Our mission at South Jersey Healthcare is to support the provision of quality, accessible, cost-effective health services that contribute to the improved health and well-being of all in the communities we serve.
