Garden AHEC introduces primary and secondary students to the opportunities in the healthcare field through our careers in healthcare programs.
HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Medical Explorers:
Since 1986, this program has provided experiential learning opportunities for high school students interested in health careers. A ten-month program at South Jersey Health’s Regional Medical Center, provides students with the opportunity to hear from hospital professionals and local services about different healthcare and medical careers such as nursing, hospital administration, pharmacy operations, imaging, and sports medicine and emergency medicine. Students get hands-on experience performing ‘robotic surgery’ and other medical treatment. Students also ‘attend’ the UMDNJ’s School of Osteopathic Medicine and work alongside real medical students.
